Emilie’s work focuses on exploring the interactions between different types of environmental interventions, ecological and climate changes, and local livelihoods in resource-dependent communities in terrestrial landscapes.
She specializes in developing and implementing evaluation and research designs to assess the effectiveness of development, climate, land and environmental interventions, especially with regards to the operationalisation of complex concepts, such as climate resilience, adaptation and human wellbeing.
Current work
Leading and managing strategic research and evaluation projects in climate and environment across IIED. Providing technical expertise institutionally specifically on MEL and research methods, approaches and designs to understand complexity and sustainable development, with a focus on causality and impact.
Evaluating climate change adaptation and environmental resource management interventions, for example measuring resilience and assessing institutional capacities in the Devolved Climate Finance mechanism.
Emilie is an appointed member (2020-22) of the UK Government’s “What Works Trial Advice Panel” that supports and advises civil servants across the UK government in designing and implementing effective impact evaluations of programmes and policies.
Emilie is also a research associate at the University of Oxford with the Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science (ICCS).
