We are an independent policy research organisation based in the UK and active in five continents through an extended network of partners. And as a growing organisation, we are often on the lookout for professional and creative people with a passion for our mission. Find out more about IIED.

IIED is seeking an experienced leader to help us fulfil our mission: to build a fairer, more sustainable world using evidence, action and influence in partnership with others. The chair will join our impressive international board of trustees from June 2020: the first full year of our inspiring new strategy.

Our retiring chair, Rebeca Grynspan, is Secretary-General of the Ibero-American Secretariat, formerly UN Under-Secretary-General, associate administrator of the United Nations Development Programme and vice-president of Costa Rica. Total annual time commitment is a minimum of 10-12 days, comprising two semi-annual board meetings in London (usually June and December) and five half-day meetings (usually remotely). The deadline for applications is Friday, 31 May 2019.

The Climate Change research group is looking for a head of its global climate law, policy and governance programme to lead the strategic direction and delivery of the programme and provide legal, technical and strategic advice to the Least Developed Countries (LDC) Group in the UN climate negotiations. Success in the role will be through amplifying the voices of the LDCs, respecting and supporting LDC leadership, ownership and agency.

The post holder will provide strategic direction to, and design and implement the institute’s and group’s programme of work on global climate law, policy and governance to ensure equity in the global decision-making process and implementation of the Paris Agreement, with particular focus on the LDC Group. The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday, 31 May 2019.
